Easy Banana Oatmeal Waffles

5 from 1 vote
A waffle on a white plate with a brown rim topped with fresh banana slices next to a small ceramic jar of real maple syrup.
Banana oatmeal waffles have crispy edges with a soft, fluffy center and taste like banana bread in waffle form. They're the easiest waffles and make a delicious, wholesome breakfast any day of the week. This recipe is gluten free and dairy free.

Instructions

  • Add all the ingredients to a high speed blender or food processor. Blend until a smooth batter forms.
  • While the batter rests for a few minutes, heat your waffle iron on the highest setting and lightly grease with it coconut oil or cooking spray so the waffles don't stick.
  • Pour batter into the waffle maker and cook until the center is cooked through and the edges are golden brown, according to the manufacturer's directions. The amount of batter and cook time will vary depending on the size and type of waffle iron.
  • Transfer the cooked waffles to a wire rack. Repeat with the remaining batter. Serve with any of your favorite toppings. I love adding fresh fruit, and a drizzle of maple syrup.

No old-fashioned oats? - you can also use quick cooking oats, but avoid using steel-cut oats for this particular recipe.
Not dairy-free? - use whole milk or another type of milk.

Make banana peanut butter waffles - add a scoop of peanut butter to the waffle batter and blend until smooth. If the batter is too thick, add a bit more milk.
