Cook Time 20 minutes
Total Time 25 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • cup organic cane sugar
  • 2 medium ripe peaches pits removed and cut into slices

Instructions

  • Dissolve sugar. Heat the water and sugar in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Constantly stir until the sugar dissolves, then add the peach slices.
  • Simmer. Reduce to medium heat and simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Mash the peaches with a fork as they soften to infuse more of their flavor into the syrup.
  • Strain. Place a fine mesh strainer over a glass jar and pour the peach syrup through, gently pressing against the peaches to help extract all the syrup. Don't throw away the syrupy stewed peaches, they're delicious!
  • Cool and store. Let the syrup cool to room temperature before storing it in the fridge.
