Trader Joe's Smoky Peach Salsa (Copycat Recipe)

Trader Joe's peach salsa has a smoky, sweet, savory flavor with a hint of spice. This homemade version is made with fresh, in season peaches.

Chill Time 20 minutes
Total Time 35 minutes

Ingredients
 

  • 4 medium ripe peaches pitted and diced
  • 3 roma tomatoes diced, (about 10 oz)
  • 1 jalapeño pepper seeds removed and minced
  • ½ heaping cup diced yellow onion
  • ½ cup fresh cilantro roughly chopped
  • 1 chipotle pepper in adobo sauce plus more if needed to taste
  • 1 teaspoon adobo sauce plus more if needed to taste
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • juice of 2 small limes about ¼ cup
  • kosher salt to taste

Instructions

  • Mix. Combine all the ingredients together in a large bowl until evenly distributed. Season to taste with kosher salt.
  • Chill and serve. Let chill for at least 20 minutes for the best flavor. Serve with tortilla chips or as a topper for tacos, bowls, burgers, grilled fish or chicken, etc.

Make It Your Way: Substitutions & Variations

No roma tomatoes? - use another variety such as beef steak, vine, campari, heirloom, etc.
No jalapeno pepper? - use another type of pepper. If you don't like spice, you can use a bell pepper for added flavor. I'd use red or orange.
No yellow onion? - you can also use red onion or shallot.
Don't like cilantro? - use flat leaf parsley, chives, or omit completely.
