Asian shrimp tacos are made with marinated fresh shrimp that's cooked until tender and served on warm tortillas with a crunchy slaw. This recipe is dairy free and gluten free.

Ingredients
 

Shrimp Marinade

  • 1 pound shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons reduced sodium tamari or soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon coconut sugar or brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon gochujang paste
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • ½ teaspoon grated ginger

Serve With Tacos

Instructions

  • Make the marinade. Whisk the marinade in a small bowl then toss the shrimp in. Let the shrimp marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  • Cook the shrimp. Heat a large skillet over medium heat with olive oil. Once hot, arrange the saucy shrimp in a single layer and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through.
  • Assemble the tacos. To a warm tortilla, add a smear of sauce of choice (optional) followed by the shrimp, then top with slaw.

Make It Your Way: Substitutions & Variations

No lime juice? - use rice vinegar (also called rice wine vinegar).
No coconut sugar? - brown sugar is great.
No fresh garlic? - sub garlic powder.
Add-ins - bell pepper, cabbage slaw, sesame seeds, fresh herbs such as fresh cilantro, or top with sliced green onion.
