Ingredients

  • 3 pound ripe cantaloupe melon see notes below
  • 4 cups cold water
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 1-2 tablespoons sweetener of choice optional, see step 2

Serving

  • ice cubes
  • fresh mint leaves for garnish

Instructions

  • Prep cantaloupe. Cut the cantaloupe in half, scoop out the seeds and place the cut side down on a cutting board. Use a sharp knife to remove the thick skin. Cut the cantaloupe into chunks.
  • Blend. Add half of the chopped cantaloupe to a blender along with half the water (2 cups) and 1 tablespoon lime juice. Blend on high until smooth. Taste and add 1 tablespoon of organic cane sugar, honey, etc., if needed and blend again. Repeat with the remaining ingredients.
  • Strain. Pour the cantaloupe juice through a fine mesh strainer or a nut milk bag over a large bowl to remove the pulp. Compost or discard the pulp.
  • Serve. Add ice cubes to a glass and pour the cantaloupe agua fresca over the top. Garnish with mint leaves if desired. Enjoy!

Notes

Cantaloupe: You'll need roughly 6 cups once the cantaloupe is cut.
