Ingredient Notes

  • Cantaloupe melon – the riper the better because this is where the main source of sweetness and flavor comes from.
  • Fresh lime juice
  • Sweetener (optional) – such as organic cane sugar, white granulated sugar, maple syrup, or honey.
  • Ice cubes
  • Mint – for garnish, optional.

How to Make Cantaloupe Agua Fresca: Step By Step

Here are some quick visual instructions. The full instructions and ingredient list will be in the printable recipe card below!

  1. Prep cantaloupe. Cut the cantaloupe in half, scoop out the seeds and place the cut side down on a cutting board. Use a sharp knife to remove the thick skin. Cut the cantaloupe into chunks.
  2. Blend. Add the cantaloupe chunks to a blender along with water and lime juice. Blend on high until smooth. Taste and add sugar if needed. Blend again.
  3. Strain. Pour the cantaloupe juice through a fine mesh strainer or a nut milk bag over a large bowl to remove the pulp.
  4. Serve. Add ice cubes to a glass and pour the cantaloupe agua fresca over the top. Garnish with mint leaves if desired. Enjoy!

Make It Your Way: Substitutions & Variations

Please remember that recipes are just a starting point.

How can you make this cantaloupe agua fresca recipe using what you already have? Here are some ideas…

  • Adjust the amount of sweetener depending on the sweetness of your cantaloupe and your desired preference.
  • For creamy agua fresca, replace half of the water with your milk of choice and dairy free sweetened condensed milk to sweeten the drink.
  • I recommend using a nut milk bag over a fine mesh strainer. Although both work, I find it much easier to extract the liquid from the pulp using a nut milk bag. Use whatever you have.
