Strawberry Simple Syrup

Strawberry simple syrup is a quick and easy way to add a fresh, fruity flavor to your favorite drinks and treats. With just 2 simple ingredients, you can whip up a batch quickly. It's perfect for cocktails, mocktails, lemonade, pancakes, and more!

Ingredients
 

  • cup water
  • ½ cup organic cane sugar
  • 2 cups fresh or frozen strawberries hulled and roughly chopped if fresh

Instructions

  • Heat the water and sugar in a small saucepan over medium-high heat. Constantly stir until the sugar dissolves, then add the strawberries.
  • Reduce to medium heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes (10 minutes if using fresh strawberries), stirring occasionally.
  • Place a fine mesh strainer over a glass jar and pour the strawberry syrup through. Use the back of a spoon to gently press against the berries to help extract all the syrup.
  • Let the syrup cool to room temperature before storing it in the fridge for at least an hour before using.

Notes

Makes about 1 ¼ cups of strawberry syrup.

Make It Your Way: Substitutions & Variations

No organic cane sugar? - use white sugar or honey.
Add-ins - a splash of vanilla extract, lemon zest or lemon juice, or fresh basil for a twist. Strain out with the strawberries.
