What You’ll Love About This Recipe

  • Easy homemade gift – Oranges dipped in chocolate make the perfect gifts during the holiday season since they’re so easy to make.
  • Simple ingredients – Although you can make this treat any time of year, it’ll have the best flavor during peak citrus season.
  • Not too sweet – Chocolate and orange is a popular ingredient pairing. The bitterness in chocolate helps balance the natural sweetness in the orange, giving it a balanced flavor, especially when topped with flaky sea salt.

Ingredients

Here’s what you’ll need to make these chocolate oranges:

  • Navel oranges or clementines – I used cuties because they’re easy to peel.
  • Dark chocolate or milk chocolate chips – I used Enjoy Life’s dairy free milk chocolate chips.
  • Refined coconut oil – a small amount helps achieve a glossier finish and also helps the chocolate harden in the fridge.
  • Flaky sea salt optional – adds a nice crunch and gives them the perfect salty sweet flavor.

How to Make Chocolate Dipped Oranges: Step By Step

Here are some quick visual instructions. The full instructions and ingredient list will be in the printable recipe card below!

  1. Prep oranges. Remove the orange peel and break each orange into segments, removing as much of the white pith as possible.
  2. Melt chocolate. Melt chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl with refined coconut oil in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until smooth.
  3. Dip. Dip each orange segment in melted chocolate then arrange in a single layer on a baking sheet or plate lined with a piece of parchment paper. Sprinkle flaky sea salt on the chocolate dipped side.
  4. Chill. Chill in the fridge for 10 minutes or until the chocolate has hardened. Enjoy!

Helpful Tips

  • Make a double batch. This simple dessert is SO good, when they’re gone, you’ll wish you had more.
  • If making them for a gift, leave a note to store in the fridge until ready to enjoy.

Quick Tip: Leave some space in between each orange segment so the melted chocolate doesn’t run and clump them together.

Storage

Store the chocolate dipped orange slices in an airtight container in the fridge until ready to enjoy.
